About this course

Full stack developers build every layer of a web application: what the visitor sees, the server that applies the rules, and the database that remembers. This course builds those layers one at a time in JavaScript and TypeScript, using React for the interface, Node.js and Express for the server and a SQL database for storage.

You work like a small product team: code in Git, review each other's work, test before you ship, and deploy an application at the end. This outline uses a widely used JavaScript and TypeScript stack; Pathway Career confirms the final stack when you enquire.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how browsers, servers, APIs and databases work together.
  • Build responsive, accessible pages with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Build interactive interfaces with React, including forms, routing and data fetching.
  • Design and build a REST API with Node.js and Express, with input validation and error handling.
  • Model data in PostgreSQL, see how MongoDB differs, and query both from code.
  • Add sign-in and role-based access, and protect an application against common web attacks.
  • Test, version and deploy an application using Git and an automated pipeline.

Before you start

  • This outline starts from the basics: the first modules cover how the web works, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Helpful but not required: basic computer skills and comfort with logical thinking.
  • Entry requirements and the laptop specification are confirmed by Pathway Career when you enquire.

Career paths

  • Web application developer

Questions about this course

Do I need to know programming?

This outline assumes no programming experience: the course starts with how the web works, then HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Entry requirements are confirmed by Pathway Career when you enquire.

Which stack does it use?

The outline uses JavaScript and TypeScript with React, Node.js, Express and PostgreSQL. Pathway Career confirms the final stack when you enquire.

Do I need design skills?

No. You learn to build clean, responsive layouts, not to create brand designs.

Is this the same as the Python course?

No. Python is a general-purpose language. This course focuses on web applications in JavaScript and TypeScript.

Will I learn to use AI coding tools?

The outline can show how to use AI assistants carefully, and why every line they write still needs review. Pathway Career confirms whether this is included when you enquire.

Will I deploy something real?

The outline ends with a capstone application that is deployed so you can share a working link. Pathway Career confirms the hosting service used when you enquire.
